Mission

What the congress is

The International Congress on Informatics and Systems (CIIS) is an academic event organized by students of the School of Informatics and Systems Engineering at Jorge Basadre Grohmann National University (UNJBG). Over five days, national and international specialists present research and innovations in areas such as artificial intelligence, IoT, data science, cybersecurity and robotics.

Our mission is to bring the university community and the general public closer to cutting-edge technology knowledge, driving the training of new researchers and the link between academia and industry in southern Peru.

History

Building community

Since its founding, the congress has grown alongside the School of Informatics and Systems Engineering, adapting to each technological and social moment.

  • First editions

Born as a student initiative at UNJBG to bring informatics research closer to Tacna, with in-person conference and workshop sessions.

  • Internationalization

The congress adds speakers and universities from other countries, incorporates student contests and expands its thematic areas.

  • Hybrid format

Online streaming of conferences is introduced, allowing remote participation of attendees from across the region.

  • XXVII edition · 2026

With the theme "No limits: the impact of systems engineering in the digital age", the congress continues to be the largest academic gathering in the region.

Objectives

Where the congress is headed

Three objectives guide every edition, developed through six thematic research areas.

  • Spread research

Give visibility to research work in informatics and systems produced in the region and beyond.

  • Train new talent

Bring students closer to applied research through workshops, contests and mentoring from specialists.

  • Link academia and industry

Build bridges between the university and technology sector companies for joint projects.
